Your Privacy Matters: Body Metrics+ is designed with your privacy in mind. Your measurement data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers without your explicit consent.
1. Introduction
Body Metrics+ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Measurement Data: Body measurements (arm, shoulder, chest, waist, hips, thigh, calf), notes, and dates you enter into the App
- Goals: Fitness goals and targets you set within the App
- Progress Photos: Photos you choose to add to track visual progress (Premium feature)
- Custom Metrics: Additional measurement types you create (Premium feature)
- Health Information: Weight, height, age, and gender information you provide for body composition calculations
2.2 Information from Apple Health
If you choose to enable Apple Health integration (Premium feature), we may access:
- Weight data
- Height data
- Body fat percentage
- Date of birth (to calculate age)
Important: We only read this data when you explicitly request it. We never access your HealthKit data without your permission.
2.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., feature usage, app crashes) to improve the App
- Device Information: Device model, iOS version, and app version for crash reporting and support
- Subscription Status: Information about your Premium subscription status for feature access control
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
- Display your measurements, trends, and analytics
- Calculate body composition metrics (BMI, body fat percentage, etc.)
- Sync data with Apple Health (when enabled)
- Process subscription payments and manage Premium features
- Send you measurement reminders (if enabled)
- Identify and fix bugs, crashes, and technical issues
- Understand how users interact with the App to improve user experience
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
Your measurement data, goals, and photos are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This means:
- Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
- We cannot access your personal measurement data
- If you delete the App, your data is deleted (unless you've exported it)
4.2 Data Export
Premium users can export their data as CSV or JSON files. This data is stored in your device's temporary directory and can be shared via the iOS share sheet. We do not have access to exported files.
4.3 Security Measures
- Data is encrypted at rest using iOS's built-in encryption
- We use secure connections (HTTPS) for any network communication
- Apple Health data is accessed only with your explicit permission
- We follow Apple's App Store guidelines and best practices for data security
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Firebase (Google)
We use Firebase for:
- Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics and app performance metrics
- Crashlytics: Crash reports and error tracking to improve app stability
Firebase may collect device identifiers, app version, and usage events. This data is anonymized and used solely for app improvement. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
5.2 Google AdMob
Free users may see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
- Device identifiers for ad personalization
- App usage data for ad targeting

5.3 Apple Services
- App Store: Subscription management and payment processing
- HealthKit: Health data integration (with your permission)
- iCloud: If you enable iCloud sync (if implemented), data may be stored in your iCloud account
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal measurement data to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly choose to export or share your data
- Apple Health: When you enable HealthKit sync, measurements are written to Apple Health according to your Health app settings
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party services (Firebase, AdMob) that help us operate the App, subject to their privacy policies
- Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Access and Control
- You can view, edit, or delete your measurements at any time within the App
- You can export your data (Premium feature) to have a copy
- You can delete the App to remove all local data
7.2 Apple Health Permissions
- You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health
- Revoking permissions will stop data sync but won't delete data already in the App
7.3 Analytics and Advertising
- You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising
- Upgrading to Premium removes all advertisements
7.4 Subscription Management
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
- Canceling does not delete your data
8. Children's Privacy
Body Metrics+ is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
9. International Users
If you are using the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
10. Data Retention
- Your measurement data is stored locally on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App
- Exported data files remain in your device's storage until you delete them
- Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's data retention policies
- Crash reports are retained by Crashlytics for up to 90 days
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- For significant changes, we may provide additional notice within the App
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
12. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
